Getting to Asciano

There are a few options for getting to Tuscany. The closet town to the Lazy Olive is Asciano. Starting with flights...

Perugia

Ryanair has daily flights from London Stansted to Perugia which is the closest airport. Perugia is a 45 minute drive from Asciano.

Florence

Florence has daily flights from London City, Heathrow and Gatwick and is about 90 minutes drive from Asciano.

Pisa

Pisa has daily flights from all London airports and is about 2 hours drive from Asciano. Be warned, the drive from Pisa isn't very pretty but we promise it gets nice at the end and that we aren't dragging you to a horrible part of Italy!

Rome

Rome has daily flights from all London airports and is about 2 and a half hours drive from Asciano. Flights connect from Melbourne and Sydney through the Middle East and Singapore to Rome so it can be done on only 1 stop from Australia.

Trains

Asciano has a train station and with changes you can get from Rome and Florence relatively easily. Trains aren't that frequent but do run every day and depending where you are coming from, it is only one change.

Getting around

You can hire a car at all of the airports and generally we would suggest hiring a car to get around. Tuscany isn't great for public transport and so if you want to explore the wineries, olive groves and little towns which are beautiful, the only real option is to drive.
